Maternity Newborn Professionals UK (MNPUK)

Supporting professional standards in maternity and newborn care

The NNEB Old Collegians Network for NNEB Nursery Nurses is supporting the establishment of Maternity Newborn Professionals UK (MNPUK), an emerging professional initiative intended to represent qualified maternity and newborn-care practitioners working in private households.

MNPUK is being developed in response to growing concerns surrounding inconsistent qualification standards, safeguarding, professional accountability and the regulation of maternity and infant sleep services.

Its proposed aims include promoting recognised qualifications, evidence-based newborn care, safer sleep practices, appropriate professional screening, fair working conditions and improved standards within the private recruitment sector.

The initiative also seeks to ensure that the views of appropriately qualified and experienced maternity professionals are represented in discussions with government, regulators and relevant professional organisations.

An initial meeting of prospective founding members is being organised for November 2026.

An independent professional organisation

NNEB OC is providing initial support and coordination during the establishment of MNPUK. The intention is for MNPUK to develop into an independent, practitioner-led professional organisation with its own governance and membership criteria.

MNPUK is currently in development and is not a statutory regulatory body or an established professional register.

Qualified practitioners and professionals with relevant expertise who are interested in contributing to its development are welcome to make an initial enquiry.

Enquiries: Please contact NNEB OC, marking correspondence MNPUK.
