Lost National Nursery Examination Board Certificate - Verification Service

The National Nursery Examination Board (NNEB) no longer exists. This means that original certificates issued and signed by the board cannot be replaced.

However, we may be able to assist individuals who qualified before 1994 and have lost their original NNEB certificate.

Who Can Apply?

This service is available to NNEB-qualified individuals who can provide sufficient evidence of their qualification.

Where appropriate, we can issue an NNEB Old Collegians Verification Certificate, confirming that you hold the NNEB qualification.

Please note: We do not hold records for all qualifying years, so verification is not guaranteed if you cannot also provide sufficient evidence of qualifying .

How to Apply

To request a Verification Certificate:

Complete the application form below.
Submit the non-refundable fee of £180.

Once both the form and payment are received, we will contact you to arrange a telephone or video call. This conversation helps verify your claim and understand your training history.

What Evidence Is Required?

You will need to provide as much evidence as possible. This may include:

Proof of attendance at your NNEB course
Copies or photos of your original certificate (if available)
References from peers, tutors, or employers
Letters or other documentation confirming your training

Please note: This is a manual and time-consuming process, especially if we do not hold your qualifying year in our archive.

What Happens Next?

If we are satisfied that you meet the criteria:

We will issue an NNEB Old Collegians Verification Certificate
You will receive a PDF copy by email
You can also request a hard copy by post

This certificate may support job applications or further study, although we cannot guarantee that all organisations will accept it.

If your qualification cannot be verified, we will advise you on additional steps or further evidence you may be able to provide.

An alternative to NNEB OC verification is to discuss Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) with an Ofqual-regulated awarding body.
